Felix Do 'The Pagoda Remembers'
The Emerz Quartet perform Felix Do's commission in collaboration with dancers from the Northern Ballet School. The Pagoda Remembers places dance and dramatic storytelling front and centre. Loosely based on the legend of the White Snake - a tale of love, loyalty and overcoming adversity - this piece consists of three scenes, connected by a cello solo, each relating to a different characters' troubles of the heart. Live performance at the RNCM Carol Nash Recital Room on the 3rd December 2024. Musicians: Tako Tkabladze, Joe Steel, Emily O'Dell and Lola Garcia Marquez Dancers: Paul Whitty, Rose Maskill, Innes Oliver, Heather Lyon and Emily Dunne Choreographer: Matthew Ross Video Editor: Dave Dickson and with many thanks to the RNCM Spotlight Concert Team!

Whitworth Circle - live at MUSICA festival Birchfields
Whitworth Circle This piece is inspired by Li Yuan-chia's 1970 Untitled acrylic paint on hessian work. Li Yuan-chia is a self-described 'artist, poet, sculptor, thinker, mathematician and dreamer.' From close up the details overwhelm the viewer: closely painted mathematical symbols arranged in a way I cannot figure out. Upon stepping away from the artwork, however, one can see the big white circle - the literal 'big picture'. Like Yuan-chia's art, this piece focuses minutia of one note, painted in different timbres, before 'stepping away.' Performed by Emily O'Dell - Viola at Birchfields Community Centre in on 3rd March 2024
